It wasn’t until I came home for a visit over Thanksgiving weekend this year and mentioned to my parents that I’d be needing my own carboys (fermenting vessels) that I was told the stories of how my grandfather had been an avid home brewer for a number of years. My father had been given the old carboy a number of years ago, with a thought that “home brewing could be a lot of fun!” Life has a funny habit of getting in the way of things, however, so it sat abandoned under the stairs ever since.

My Grandfather passed away in September of 2020, so I will sadly never be able to share a beer made in his old carboy with him. I strive to honour his memory with every brew I make, and I believe he is out there somewhere, watching over me proudly.

This one’s for you, gramps~ ❤️
