The brewing process generates an incredible amount of waste product. From waste water to excess CO2 and other gasses, to the leftover materials from the mash tun, the kettle, and even the fermenter. Breweries all over are starting to take steps towards curbing waste products, or harnessing and re-using the “waste” products that they do produce, but many of these solutions are expensive both in terms of time and money.

In my own home, I have begun using spent grain to do my baking, As an avid baker, making cakes, cookies, and other sweet treats for friends and family has been a constant for over 2 decades. The process of drying & grinding the grain to a flour-like consistency is not quick, but the flavours imparted from the different mixes of grains give lovely complexity to the various end products.
